- 1). Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable that was included with the phone.
- 2). Launch iTunes and select your iPhone from the "Devices" list on the left menu bar.
- 3). Click the "Summary" tab in the larger menu that appears within iTunes, and then click the "Restore" button in the middle of the screen. This will return your phone to its original factory settings, deleting all of the contacts that were stored on the device. Leave your iPhone connected to your computer.
- 4). Choose "Set up a new iPhone" when a new window launches in order to set up your iPhone without all of your contacts added. If you plan to pass the phone on and don't want any music, applications or other information to be on the device, simply disconnect it at this time.
