The Case Logic MP3 Player Shuttle iPod case is a sport iPod case designed for exercisers, though its intended audience may find the case frustrating to use when moving vigorously.


The MP3 Player Shuttle is a neoprene case that holds the iPod and items like credit cards or licenses, allows for the headphones to pass through a small opening for use while in the case, and sports an included armband and handgrip. The handgrip makes it easy to carry the iPod while running, and the armband is designed to take the iPod out of your hands while biking, lifting weights, or doing other things that require both hands.

The case will work best for iPods with their headphone jack in the top center of the device, as the headphone opening is designed for that. For fifth-generation iPods, whose headphone jack is on the right, the case isn’t a precise fit. Though it still works with these models, it requires some bending and adjustment and isn’t ideal.

The handgrip is the best way to use the case while exercising as it provides the most control and easily fits in your hand. Though the armband is both adjustable and offers Velcro to try to keep the case in place on your arm, you’ll find that vigorous movement jostles the case and moves it around your arm so much as to be annoying.

Because the case fully covers the iPod, it’s not easy to change songs while the case is closed. This may be less of an issue for people who have created playlists for their workouts.

Though the Case Logic MP3 Player Shuttle iPod case is affordable and a good bet for runners, for other users, its downsides — lack of control while in case, the movement of the case on the armband when exercising — may outweigh the low price.
