• 1). Slide the hold switch back and forth from "on" to "off" five times. The iPod might just sleeping. Flipping the switch may be all that is needed to wake it up.
  
  
• 2). Place one finger on the "Menu" button and one finger on the "Select" button. Make sure your fingers are not touching any of the surrounding buttons.
  
  
• 3). Press the buttons down at the same time, and hold them down until the Apple symbol appears. This takes between 10 and 20 seconds. If the symbol does not appear on the first attempt, repeat the process.
  
  

Scroll Wheel iPods

• 1). Slide the hold switch back and forth from "on" to "off" five times.
  
  
• 2). Place one finger on the "Play/Pause" button and one finger on the "Menu" button. Make sure that you are not touching any of the surrounding buttons.
  
  
• 3). Press down the buttons at the same time, and hold them down until you see the Apple icon appear on the screen. If the symbol does not appear after 20 seconds, repeat the process.
  
  

iPod Shuffle

• 1). Switch the power button to the "off" position and leave it there for 10 seconds.
  
  
• 2). Toggle the switch between the "Shuffle" and "Play in Order" position. Repeat this three times.
  
  
• 3). Switch the Shuffle on to make sure this process has worked.
