Though the first-generation iPod Shuffle has since been replaced by the matchbook-sized second generation, there are still a lot of first-generation Shuffles out there, and if you own one, you may need a sport case. We’ll, I’ve got the one for you – Case Logic’s MPC8 iPod Shuffle case.
Having spent a bit of time with it, I feel good saying that if you’ve got a first-generation shuffle that you want to bring with you while exercising, this is an excellent choice.
The MPC8 is a small, black neoprene sleeve with a clear plastic window to give you access to the iPod Shuffle’s controls. Thanks to the window, and the headphone jack at the bottom of the case, you’ll have access to all the controls you’ll need during your workout (the buttons on the back of the iPod aren’t accessible from within the case, but presumably you’d only need those before starting the workout).
The MPC8 fits the shuffle snuggly and keeps all aspects of it protected.
The case also includes a lanyard and an armband for use during workouts. The armband is sturdy and effective. It is adjustable using a series of Velcro swatches, and the iPod is secured in place using these Velcro swatches. Because the Shuffle is fairly light and the Velcro is fairly tough, the iPod stays in place on the arm even while running vigorously.
Though there are fewer and fewer owners of first-generation iPod Shuffles out there, if you are one, and you need a case for working out, the Case Logic MPC8 iPod Case is a perfect choice.
