How to String Beads on Elastic

    • 1). Measure your wrist or neck with the tape measure. Add onto your initial measurement to your liking to determine how long your final piece will measure. Add 1 to 2 extra inches so you have room for tying at the end.

    • 2). Cut your elastic string the length of your measurement.

    • 3). Place the beads on your bead board or a piece of felt in the order you want to put them on the elastic. Sometimes it is easiest to start in the middle and work your way outward on both sides.

    • 4). Attach the bead stopper to the end of the elastic so the beads do not fall off as you are stringing them. Do not forget to leave an extra 1 to 2 inches of the elastic bare at the end.

    • 5). Hold the elastic close to the end on the opposite end of the bead stopper. Holding it close to the end will keep the elastic rigid so it is easier to string the beads.

    • 6). String the beads on the elastic in the order they are on the bead board.

    • 7). Take the bead stopper off.

    • 8). Tie both ends of the elastic together tightly in a double knot close to the end beads. Put a dab of clear fingernail polish or white glue on the knot so it stays tied.

    • 9). Cut the excess elastic string, leaving enough room to tie and untie the ends together around your neck or wrist.

Push the knot inside one of the beads after the fingernail polish or glue has dried, if desired and if the size of your knot allows for it. Your bracelet or necklace is ready to wear.
