Fashion Purse Ideas
- Create a cute clutch or a big tote with this purse, versatile in both style and size. For a more fashionable purse, choose a T-shirt that is patterned or one that has a logo on it. For a large tote, use a large or adult-size shirt and for a small purse try a small or child-size shirt. Cut the arms off of the shirt using craft scissors; the arm holes will serve as the handles. Next, cut the collar off. Turn the shirt inside out and sew the bottom straight across with a sewing machine. Turn right side out to make sure the seam is straight along the bottom, and you have a new purse.
- Using a stencil, you can create tribal, ethnic and unique patterns with fabric markers on purses. Purchase muslin fabric, or some sort of porous material that the markers will not bleed on. Alternatively, use henna to tattoo the purse for a more urban or rustic look. Craft a simple style purse using a pattern of your choice. When complete, place newspaper inside the bag to keep the marker or henna from bleeding through and lay it on a flat surface. Choose a stencil pattern and lay the stencil onto the bag. From here, you can draw one pattern in the middle of the purse or place the stencil in various places for an all-over design.
- Recycle old denim and create a fashion purse out of jeans. Use a skinny or low-rise embellished pair for a cute clutch. The size of the jeans will determine the size of the purse. Cut both the legs off your jeans, then remove the crotch by cutting it out. Next, cut a straight line across the bottom for an even hem. Turn the jeans inside out and sew a hem on the bottom straight across about 1/2 inch from the bottom. Turn it right side out to ensure a straight seam. Fashion handles out of the leg scraps.
- Reuse cereal boxes to create a pretty little clutch purse. This idea for a purse is simple and easy. You will need decorative paper, matte paper sealant, scissors and/or a box cutter. Determine how small or big you would like your clutch. Ideally, you are going to cut the box just under halfway down. Use a box cutter for a straighter line. Next determine the type of handle you want, these can be oval or square. Draw the shape on the box, about an inch down from the top. Use scissors or a box cutter and cut the shape out. From here, glue decorative paper to fit the design using matte sealant; collaging torn pieces all over the purse can be cute, too. Apply a second coat of matte sealant to seal and tie a little bowed ribbon as an accent around a handle, or hot glue it on the side.
