How to Identify Hand Signs
- 1). Visit a website that hosts one of the hand sign letter lists of the American Sign Language or the British Sign Language.
- 2). Print out one of these lists. Scale the printing so that the print out can fit in your pocket or purse.
- 3). Study the print out and practice the letters of the sign language alphabet by yourself or with a friend.
- 4). Visit the ASL Pro visual dictionary of sign language words if you wish to learn sign language words in addition to sign language lettering. Watch the videos on how to form sign language words. Note carefully how the word is formed. Practice it yourself or with a friend. Watch a few videos every day and practice forming and identifying the sign language words with a friend.
- 5). Walk around with the sign language print out in your pocket or purse and use it as a reference to help you identify sign language expressions until you do not need the print out anymore. Return to the videos of the sign language words as needed in order to continue learning the many sign language words to identify.
