How to Configure FFmpeg
- 1). Launch FFmpeg on your computer.
- 2). Click the "Summary" tab. Drag a video from a folder on your computer into the "From" box under "Source Format." Click the "To" drop-down menu under "Target Format," and then click a preset, such as "AVI Divx" or "iPhone" if you want to use one of the FFmpeg presets.
- 3). Click the "Video" tab when you want to configure the video output settings. Click the "Video Codec" drop-down menu, and then click a codec, such as "MPEG 4" or "Flash Video." Type a number in the "Video Bitrate" box if you want to adjust that parameter. Type a number in the MB box if you want to target the output file to be a specific size. Type numbers in the "Video Size" box under "Parameters" if you want to adjust the size of the converted video.
- 4). Click the "Audio" tab when you want to configure the audio settings. Click the "Audio Codec" drop-down menu, and then click an option for the file's audio track, such as "MP3" or "AC3 Dolby Digital." Click the "Audio Bitrate" drop-down menu, and then click an option such as "128 kbit/s" or "192 kbit/s." Click the "Channels" drop-down menu, and then click "Stereo," "Mono" or "5.1."
- 5). Click the "Filters" tab to configure how the video is processed. For example, click an option under "Image Filters" such as "Denoise" or 'Brightness." Click the "Subtitles Font" drop-down menu, and then click the font you prefer for the video's subtitles.
- 6). Click the "Options" tab to configure settings for the video encoding process. For example, click an option for "High Quality" or "Two-Pass Encoding" to set how much processing FFmpeg applies to the video file.
