How to Make a Mold of Your Cat's Paw for a Keepsake
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Cut a piece of plastic wrap to 6 inches square.
2
Place your cat's paw into the center of the square and fold the edges up around the paw into a bootie.
3
Wrap a rubber band around the paw to hold on the plastic wrap. Do not wrap the rubber band too tightly or it could hurt your cat.
4
Pour 1/2 cup of plaster of Paris into a bowl and add 1/4 cup of water. Mix well with a spoon.
5
Place a drinking straw into the top section of a soap mold. Choose a mold that will symbolize your cat or the season, such as a mold in the shape of a cat or a tree.
6
Pour the plaster mixture into the soap mold.
7
Allow the mixture to set for about two to three minutes.
8
Press your cat's wrapped paw into the plaster, then remove it to make the impression.
9
Remove the plastic wrap and rubber band from your cat's paw.
10
Allow the plaster to completely set, which can take about an hour.
11
Pop the plaster out of the soap mold.
12
Gently twist the straw to remove it from the plaster.
13
Cut a length of ribbon to 6 inches.
14
Insert the ribbon through the hole left by the straw, then tie the ribbon into a bow. You can now hang up the cat's paw keepsake.
