How to Make Craft Letters

    • 1). Create an alphabet on a word processing program on your computer using a font with block letters. If you are making a banner, choose a large size, and make one letter per page. If you do not need an entire alphabet, use only the letters you will need.

    • 2). Print and cut out your alphabet template.

    • 3). Lay out your fabric. You can use a different color or pattern of fabric for every letter if you want. You can even use different fabrics for the fronts and backs of your letters.

    • 4). Place your first paper letter on the fabric you would like to use for the front of the letter. Trace around the paper template with the fabric pen. Cut the letter out of the fabric.

    • 5). Place the paper template on the fabric you would like to use for the back of the letter. Trace around the template and cut out the fabric letter. Repeat this process with a piece of felt which will be sewn in between the two pieces of fabric.

    • 6). Put together the three fabric cut-outs with the front fabric on top, the felt in the middle and the back fabric on the bottom.

    • 7). Sew around all edges of the letter.

    • 8). Repeat this process to create all of the letters you need for your project.
