How to Make Paper Knives
- 1). Fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally. Unfold it, then fold it diagonally in the other direction and unfold it again.
- 2). Fold one side of the square up to the center fold, followed by the opposite side. You should be left with a kite shape with two triangular flaps.
- 3). Fold the point of each flap back to the edge of the paper, creating two small triangles. The fold down the center of the triangle (from the diagonal folds you marked in step 1) should line up exactly with the folds on the larger flaps.
- 4). Fold the two side points of the kite shape along the lines formed by the edge of the small triangles, then unfold them. Turn the paper over and fold the side points again in the opposite direction of your first fold, to the back of the kite shape.
- 5). Fold both of the flat sides you just created into the center crease. Fold down the wide point of the kite so that it meets the folded-in sides at the center fold.
- 6). Fold the long point of the kite, which will become the knife blade, towards the center of the kite. Only fold down enough to get rid of the pointy tip; if you started with a 6-inch square of paper, about half to three quarters of an inch.
- 7). Create a new point by folding the two sides next to the fold you just made into the center fold of the kite.
- 8). Make a regular knife by folding the paper in half lengthwise. You can also create a folding knife by folding the knife blade in half lengthwise, bringing it to the center of the handle, and folding the handle up around it.
