How to Make Speaker Housing
- 1). Examine the documentation supplied by the manufacturer for the bass/mid-range drivers you plan to install in the cabinet.
- 2). Measure the panels on the MDF sheet using measuring tape. Cut 3/4-inch MDF cabinet panels in concordance with the drivers' specifications using the table saw. You will have a front baffle, rear baffle, two sides and top and bottom panels.
- 3). Cut out the holes on the front baffle with a router to the diameter specifications for each driver slated for mounting. Cut out a hole on the back panel for the speaker terminal cup with a reciprocating saw.
- 4). Apply a thick bead of glue at the meeting points of each speaker panel. Screw these panels together with the drill and Philips bit attachment. Place a wood screw every 2 inches along the meeting edges of the panels.
- 5). Paint, stain or carpet the enclosure as desired. Screw the speaker terminal cup into the back panel with a drill, Philips wood screws and Philips bit attachment.
