How to Make a Beaded Renaissance Waist Belt
- 1). Open one jump ring with round-nose pliers. Hook four more jump rings onto the open jump ring. Close the jump ring.
- 2). Place the connected jump rings on a flat surface. Arrange them so that there are two rings on top, one in the center and two rings on the bottom. The ring in the center should be the ring that you opened.
- 3). Open two more jump rings. Thread one through the top jump ring and the bottom jump ring on the left side of the center ring. Thread the other through the top jump ring and the bottom jump ring on the right side of the center ring. Close the jump rings. This is one chain maille section of the belt. You will need between 20 and 40 sections to make a beaded belt, depending on the desired length of the belt.
- 1). Cut a 3-inch section of 20-gauge copper wire. Create a loop on one end with round-nose pliers. The amount of wire needed will vary based on the size loop that you prefer. Adjust the wire measurements according to your preference.
- 2). Thread the amber bead over the open end of the wire to the loop.
- 3). Make another loop as the wire exits the bead. The chain maille sections of the beaded waist belt will be separated by these amber beads. Make as many as you need to create the length of the belt.
- 1). Attach the loops of the amber bead to the jump rings at the end of each section. Open the single jump ring on the top end of one section of chain maille. Hook the loop of the amber bead into the jump ring. Close the jump ring.
- 2). Open the single jump ring on the bottom end of the chain maille section and hoop the bottom loop of the amber bead into the jump ring. Close the jump ring. Attach an amber bead in the same way to the other side of the chain maille section.
- 3). Continue to make the belt as long as you like by alternating sections of chain maille and amber beads.
- 4). When you have the length you desire for the belt, open the top and bottom jump rings at one end of the belt. Take the two lobster claw clasps and attach them in the jump rings. Close the jump rings. You can hook the lobster claw clasps to any of the jump rings in the belt to close and adjust the size of the belt.
