How to Make Your Own Wall Monogram Stencil Templates
- 1). Place a sheet of heavyweight vellum flat onto a table top, and trace out the first letter of your last name onto the surface of the vellum using a wax pencil. Make the drawing as large or as small as you want the stencil to be.
- 2). Place the vellum sheet onto a mat cutting board. This will prevent your work surface from being damaged as you cut out the stencil.
- 3). Cut out the letter using a pen knife. Cut slowly, taking extra care when cutting around corners or angles. Discard the cutout pieces of vellum.
- 4). Sand the edges of the vellum where you cut out the letter using fine-grain sandpaper. This will remove any imperfections or shards of vellum that may effect the quality of the stencil. Use small, circular motions as you sand.
- 5). Wipe off the stencil template with a washcloth to remove any dust caused by sanding before use.
