Materials

• If you are interested in making your own ribbon wreath for your baby's door or a baby shower, it is important that you select the correct materials for executing the project. For the shape and form of the wreath, a wire ring will need to be purchased or fashioned into shape. From here, the only other materials you need are ribbons in the color and fabric of your choosing and a bow to place at the base of the ribbon wreath for decoration.
  
  

Technique

• While there are a variety of techniques that you can use when crafting a ribbon wreath, weaving the ribbons in between each other is a typical and secure way to do it. After the wire is fashioned into a circle, take two pieces of ribbon, weaving them in and out of each other and around the wire. Continue to make layer upon layer of woven ribbons until the wreath has increased to an appropriate level of thickness. To solidify the ribbon, you can glue the beginning and end pieces of the ribbon with a glue gun to the wire.

• While ribbon wreaths for babies are generally a harmless item to own or to make, there are several basic safety procedures to be mindful of. In terms of placement, it is important not to hang the wreath above your baby's crib. Even if the wreath is on a sturdy hanger, it is important to avoid placement that could potentially harm your child. When crafting a ribbon wreath, you may need to use a glue gun in order to secure the ribbon to the wire wreath. Avoid making direct contact with the hot glue by wearing gloves when using it. When the gun is not in use, place in on a piece of cardboard with its metal stand down to avoid damage to the table or ground from dripping glue.
  
  

Diaper Wreaths

• Diaper wreaths are a standard gift given out at baby showers and for decorating a child's room. To assemble a diaper wreath, fashion a wire into a circle. From here, loop diapers through the wire, placing diapers on the wire until every portion of the wire is covered. Decorate the diaper wreath with ribbon and other items, such as pacifiers and bottles, that emphasize the special themes of the day.
