How to Set Up Subwoofers

    • 1). Set the subwoofer on the floor a few inches from the wall where it won't get in the way. The sub must also be within the cable's connecting distance of the AV receiver.

    • 2). Unplug the subwoofer's power cord from the wall outlet to prevent a surge that could harm the speaker cone inside.

    • 3). Push in the plug on one end of the subwoofer cable into the round input jack on the back of the subwoofer.

    • 4). Connect the other cable plug to the "Sub Out" jack on the receiver.

    • 5). Plug in the subwoofer's electrical cord and press the power button, which may be on the front or back of the cabinet.

    • 6). Adjust the volume and crossover controls to the desired settings for the room. You may want to experiment with the sound level by testing playback of a source signal, such as a CD or DVD, connected to the AV receiver.
