Wiring Instructions for My TiVo Series2 TCD649080
- 1). Connect the coaxial cable from the wall into your splitter. Run two coaxial cables from the splitter's Out-jacks into the RF In-jacks on the back of the TiVo and your provider's receiver box.
- 2). Wire the receiver box to the TiVo using composite cables. Run the red, white and yellow jacks from the receiver's Audio-Visual Out-jacks to the TiVo's Audio-Visual In-jacks.
- 3). Connect the TiVo to your television by running a second set of composite cables from your TiVo's Audio-Visual Out-jacks to your television's Audio-Visual In-jacks.
- 4). Establish a connection to TiVo service via a home network or a phone connection. This TiVo model can connect to the Internet with wired or wireless connectivity.
For a wired connection, plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the back of the TiVo and the other end into your router.
For wireless connectivity, plug a TiVo wireless adapter into the DVR's USB port and synchronize the adapter to your wireless network. To do this, go to TiVo Central by pressing the large "TiVo" button on your remote. Then, navigate to "Messages and Settings," "Settings," "Network and Phone." Select the appropriate options and be prepared to provide your WEP security code.
For a phone connection, run a phone cord from your phone jack to the back of the TiVo. - 5). Plug the IR control cable into the TiVo's Serial Port and your receiver's nine-pin serial jack. Place each end of the IR cable wires above and below your receiver's IR sensor. The two ends should protrude about 1 1/2-inches from the receiver's sensor.
- 6). Connect the TiVo's power cord to your wall outlet. Also check to make sure your receiver box is plugged into an outlet.
- 7). Power on the television and put it on channel 3 or 4. You will know which one works when you see a TiVo screen on your display. Follow on-screen instructions to finish setup.
