How to Check the Oil on a 1978 Honda Goldwing
- 1). Select a smooth, level area to park the motorcycle and place it on its center stand.
- 2). Position yourself on the right side of the motorcycle. Locate the oil sight glass on the motor between the exhaust pipe and the rear brake pedal. The oil sight glass will appear as a round port with a slotted screw.
- 3). Turn the screw clockwise a half of a turn with a flat screwdriver. This will turn the inner wiper to clear away any film on the sight glass. Use a flashlight to illuminate the sight glass. Ideally, the oil level should be at or near the center of the sight glass. Add oil slowly into the oil filler on the motor to raise the oil level as necessary. Siphon a small amount of oil out of the motor's oil filler with a hand pump to lower the oil level.
