How to Wire a Spark Plug in a 1981 Chevy
- 1). Insert the new spark plug into the spark-plug socket so that the electrodes on the spark plug are facing out.
- 2). Attach the spark-plug socket to the socket extension and lower the spark plug into the spark-plug well in the top of the engine.
- 3). Hold the top of the socket extension with your fingers and hand-thread the spark plug. Be careful. The spark plug can cross thread very easily. If it does, you won't be able to fully tighten the plug. Once you have the first few threads started, tighten the spark plug down with a socket wrench. The first few threads should go on very easily.
- 4). Pull the spark-plug socket out of the plug well when the spark plug is tight and push the spark-plug wire that is associated with that spark plug and cylinder down into the plug well. Push the plug wire securely over the top of the spark plug and make sure that the wire end is snug and will not come off easily.
