- 1). Measure and cut out the cardboard to create the outside covers of the photo album. The size that you need to cut will depend on the size of the photo paper you buy. Leave a half inch above, below and to the right side of the photo paper when measuring.
- 2). Punch holes into the cardboard using a hole punch. To align the holes, place the photo paper a half inch below the top of the cardboard piece, and punch the holes based on the holes in the paper.
- 3). Cover the cardboard in the contact paper. Use an X-Acto knife to cut through the paper to expose the hole punches.
- 4). Decorate the cover of your photo album if you wish, using photos, cut out letters, glitter, paint, or anything else you wish.
- 5). Place the photo album pages between the cardboard covers, making sure that the holes are lined up. Thread the ribbon through the holes in the cardboard and pages and tie the ribbon's ends together making a circle in all holes. Make sure there is enough slack for the pages to be able to turn, but not too loose.
- 6). Place photos in the album pages. You may place just the photos or you can add other decorations. You can perform this step before or after step five.
