Flamenco Instruments

• There are a variety of instruments at play in traditional flamenco music, so consider creating your own craft versions of these instruments. For instance, you could create the castanets used by flamenco dancers using items like buttons and elastic bands. Have the children loop the elastic bands through the holes in the buttons, then allow them to add decorations or embellishments if desired. Host your own mini flamenco concert where the students can practice their musical skills along with some traditional dance moves.
  
  

Dancer Costumes

• The flamenco dancers' costumes are quite elaborate and impressive, and the students could create their own crafty components to wear right in the classroom. To make an entire flamenco costume is a craft idea that will require a significant amount of time, effort and planning, so if you only have a bit of time or energy to devote to your flamenco project, this may not be an ideal option. For a quicker idea, create decorative flowers using tissue paper and pipe cleaners that can be worn in students' hair upon completion.
  
  

Flamenco Props

• Aside from the costumes worn by flamenco dancers, they must sometimes use props during dance sequences. For instance, decorative paper or silk fans are quite popular in the traditional style of flamenco dancing, so you could have your students create their own flamenco-inspired fans. You could complete this craft project simply and inexpensively by folding pieces of colorful paper accordion-style and then having the students decorate their designs, or you could purchase ready-made paper fans that the students could embellish. Have the students perform dance steps that incorporate their finished paper fan props into the movements.
  
  

Flamenco Figurines

• Making miniature flamenco dancer figurines can be an entertaining craft project for your students. You could provide the children with wooden clothespins and scraps of fabric to make their own miniature flamenco dolls or they could make a spool doll decorated in flamenco fashion for a design that actually moves. Or, if you want to focus on the flamenco dancers' impressive costumes, have the kids make paper dolls with interchangeable outfits. Put on a mini performance starring the flamenco dolls after the students have finished constructing their designs.
