Kids love animals, especially animals they may have as pets, such as cats. Kids also love to make crafts, as it allows them to refine their artistic abilities and feel a sense of accomplishment when they create something. Combining cats and craft-making is an excellent way for a child to stay occupied in a fun and creative way. - Paper bag puppets can be made out of materials you may already have on hand such as paper bags, construction paper, crayons and glue. Bags can be colored with crayons or covered in construction paper to create the colors of the cat. Eyes may be drawn on, made of paper and glued on, or you can glue google eyes onto the bag. Ears, nose, whiskers, paws and tail can be made of construction paper and glued on (the tail can also be fashioned from a pipe cleaner). Finally, add a tongue or mouth made of red or pink construction paper to finish the puppet.
- Using felt or construction paper, cut out two large hearts, one medium heart, two small hearts and three extra-small hearts. Turn the medium heart upside-down so that the point is up. Turn one of the large hearts upside down, as well. Glue the medium heart to the back of the large heart so that only half of the medium heart is visible behind the large heart (making a cat body). Turn the other large heart upside-down and glue to the top of the first large heart (this makes the cat's head). Turn the small hearts upside-down and glue them to the cat's head for ears. Place extra-small hearts, upside-down inside the ears to line them. Place the third extra-small heart right-side-up on the cat's face for a nose. Cut out and glue eyes, whiskers and a tail to the cat's body to finish the heart kitty.
- Wrap a toilet paper roll in construction paper or felt to create the cat's body. Add stripes or spots as desired. Cut out paper or felt paws and a tail and glue them to the cat's body. Pipe cleaners also make good tails. Next, cut out a circle of felt or paper to make the cat's head and glue this to the body. Cut out and glue ears, eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers to the head to complete the TP roll cat.
