How to Make an Animal Room
- 1). Paint the walls in the space a neutral warm color, such as cream, tan or eggshell. Hang an animal print wallpaper border along the top or the middle of the walls to add interest; zebra, tiger or leopard print are ideal options, as they are eye-catching.
- 2). Incorporate textiles that feature an animal print, or images of animals. Cover a bed with a cheetah-print comforter or a blanket that features images of animals. Upholster a chair with zebra-print fabric. Cover the floor with a leopard-print area rug. Offset the busyness of these textiles with plain fabrics, such as a yellow throw blanket on a bed, a plain black throw pillow on a zebra print chair and solid-color sailcloth curtains.
- 3). Place images of animals in wood picture frames and hang them on the walls and set them on tabletops.
- 4). Display figures of animals throughout the space. Plush animals set on wall shelves and on a bed are ideal for a child's bedroom. Decorative carvings of animals set on shelves or along a mantel are well-suited for a living space.
- 5). Include plain elements that correspond with a jungle theme. Display banana leaf plants or bamboo in decorative urns on the floor. Use wrought-iron or brushed-nickel lamps topped with neutral-colored shades. Hang plantation shutters under the curtains.
