    • 1). Write down the exact wording of the error message you receive. Take a screenshot as well, in case you need to contact your software vendor, by pressing the "Print Screen" or "PrtSc"button on your keyboard and pasting the image into Windows Paint.

    • 2). Look up your error on the InstallShield Consumer Central database. The wording may be slightly different, so scroll through the list until you find a similar error message, and click on it. Follow the steps in the tutorial that opens, to solve the problem.

    • 3). Contact the vendor or developer of the software you're trying to install, if your error cannot be found on the InstallShield website. You may find the solution in the ReadMe.txt file included on your software's installation CD, or on the manufacturer's website. If not, find the email address for customer support and send it information about the error message, your computer, the steps you've taken to try to solve it, and a screenshot if the service accepts attachments.
