Christian Writers of Children's Stories
- Max Lucado, a minister and a writer, is a well-known author of Christian books for all ages. Included among his books are picture books for preschool children and the award-winning Wemmicks series for children. Among his titles are "One Hand, Two Hands (2010), "The Tallest of Smalls" (2009), "God's Great Big Love For Me" (3:16 - Preschool Edition) (2008), "A Bug Collection: Four Stories from the Garden" (Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends) (2007) and "The Oak Inside the Acorn" (2006). Max Lucado is also the creator of "Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends", a popular animated DVD series.
- A well-known author of adult Christian books, Anthony DeStefano has written two children's books, "This Little Prayer of Mine" (2010) and "Little Star" (2010), for children ages 4 to 8. "This Little Prayer of Mine" has been officially endorsed by The National Day of Prayer, as well as entertainer Pat Boone and Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
- Kathy-jo Wargin, a writer of children's books for more than 20 years, is the bestselling author of more than 45 books. She has written books for preschoolers, beginning readers and historical books for young readers. The preschool book, "Moose on the Loose," (2009) was awarded the Midwest Booksellers Honor Book Award for Children's Literature in 2010 and has been followed by a sequel, "Scare a Bear" (2010). She has also written a series of alphabet books, the latest of which is "F is for Fireflies" (2011). Award winners "The Legend of Sleeping Bear," "The Legend of Mackinac Island," and "The Legend of the Loon," are a few of the legend books she has written for young readers. "Mitt and Minn," a series of four books about the Great Lakes States, were written for beginning readers.
- Max Elliot Anderson has won multiple awards for his work on the feature film "Pilgrim's Progress" and the documentaries "Youth Haven: A Safe Place for Kids," and "Tracy's Choices." Mr. Anderson was a producer on the nationally televised PBS special, "Gospel at the Symphony" that was nominated for an Emmy and won a Grammy for the double album soundtrack. In addition to his careers in television and movie production, Mr. Anderson has written 35 action-adventure and mystery stories for readers 8 and up, especially boys. "Newspaper Caper," "Terror at Wolf Lake," "NorthWoods Poachers," "Mountain Cabin Mystery," "Big Rig Rustlers," "Secret of Abbott's Cave" and "Legend of the White Wolf" are some of these titles. His latest title is "Barney and the Runaway."
- Christian speaker and children's author Ruth Willms has written two books for children. "A Christmas Present for Goliath," for children ages 4 to 7, tells the story of Jesus' birth from a new perspective. "The Lion Tree" is a fantasy fiction novel for children ages 8 to 12. The author wrote this story to help young readers discover truths based on biblical principles.
