Task Manager Won't End Process
- 1). Visit the Windows Sysinternals PsTools download website.
- 2). Click on the "Download PsTools Suite" link located at the top of the page.
- 3). Click on "Save File" and then "OK." Double-click on the file in the downloads box. WinZip or WinRAR will pop up.
- 4). Highlight all of the items in WinZip or WinRAR. Right-click on them and select "Extract." Click on "Desktop" on the panel on the left and "UnZip."
- 5). Click on the "Start" button in the lower left of your screen and open "My Computer" on the right side.
- 6). Click on the "C:" drive on the list. It is usually listed near the top.
- 7). Click on the Windows folder near the end of the folders in the "C:" drive, and then the System 32 folder, also near the end of the folders listed. Leave this folder open and navigate to your desktop. Locate the file named "pskill.exe" that you unzipped in Step 4. Hold down your left mouse button and drag this file from your desktop into the open System 32 folder.
- 8). Open Task Manager by holding down "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" simultaneously on your keyboard.
- 9). Click "View" on the top toolbar and click on the last option, "Select Columns." Click the square to toggle the first option to show; it is labeled PID (Process Identifier). Make note of the PID number next to the process you want to end.

Click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen. Click on "Run" and type in "cmd" without the quotations and press enter, or type "Command" in the search box if you are running Windows 7 and click on "Command Prompt." - 11
Type "pskill" without the quotations and a space after it, and then the PID of the process you wish to end. The process will shut down.
