How to Disable Startup Programs in Windows 2000
- 1). Close all the programs you have running. Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Run." Type "regedit" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the registry.
- 2). Click the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" folder in the left pane, click the "Software" folder and then click the "Microsoft" folder. Click the "Windows" folder, click the "CurrentVersion" folder, and then click the "Run" folder. You will see a list of your startup programs in the right pane.
- 3). Right-click the program that you want to disable, and then click "Disable." Once you finish deleting startup programs, close the registry and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
