How to Restore Registry Values
- 1). Click the Start button, "Control Panel" and "System and Security."
- 2). Click "System," "System protection" and then a drive from the Available Drives column in the Protection Settings list box.
- 3). View the Protection column setting to see if an available drive is on or off. If it is "On," exit the System Properties dialog box or continue if you would like to change the drive's restore settings. If the setting is "Off," continue if you would like to turn on the restore settings.
- 4). Click "Configure" and then either "Restore systems settings and previous versions of files" or "Only restore previous versions of files."
- 5). Move the slider under "Disk Space Usage" to adjust the maximum disk space that can be used for system protection and click "OK." (Note: This step is optional as you can leave the default settings as is. To make room for new restore points, older ones are deleted when reserved space is at capacity.)
- 6). Click "Delete," "Continue" and "OK" to delete all of the restore points on the selected drive.
- 1). Save all files that you have open and then close all open programs.
- 2). Click the Start button and type "System Restore" in the Search box.
- 3). Click "System Restore." You may be prompted to enter your administrator password or provide confirmation.
- 4). Select a restore point and click "OK." Think about when the computer instability occurred and then select a restore point prior to that date.
