How to Get Odors Out of a Washer

    • 1). Start a regular wash cycle using very hot water. Pour a cup of baking soda into the water, and let the cycle run. Baking soda is a natural odor remover and will also clean the inside of the washing machine.

    • 2). Fill the washer with hot water. Add 2 cups of white vinegar, and let it soak inside the washer for up to an hour. Let the rest of the cycle run normally to completely remove odors and clean the washing machine. Wipe the inside of the washer with a cloth or sponge, and check to see if any odor remains.

    • 3). Add bleach to the washer, if odor persists. Add 2 cups of bleach to a washer full of hot water, and let it sit for 2 to 3 hours. Run the cycle as normal, then run a second cycle with hot water only. This should remove any persistent odors from the washer.
