    • 1). Turn the Toro sprinkler so it is facing the desired watering area. Turn on the sprinkler system and grab the sprinkler's body or housing and turn it as needed.

    • 2). Unscrew the sprinkler's cap by holding the body with one hand and twisting the cap with the other to clean a filter clogged with dirt and debris. Remove the sprinkler's cap, nozzle and assembly from the body. Remove the filter screen and flush it with water. Also flush the nozzle, assembly and body with water. Reinstall the filter screen, cap, nozzle and assembly. Test the sprinkler's operation by turning it on.

    • 3). Turn the radius-adjustment screw located on top of the Toro sprinkler and above the sprayer opening to adjust the sprinkler's watering radius. Turn the screw clockwise to decrease the radius. Turn it counterclockwise to increase it.

    • 4). Change the Toro sprinkler's arc or rotation. This applies to a Toro rotary or gear-driven sprinkler only. The factory arc setting is at 180 degrees. Decrease the sprinkler's arc by pushing down on the nozzle and turning it counterclockwise. Increase the sprinkler's arc by pushing down on the nozzle and turning it clockwise. Release the nozzle after arc adjustments have been made.

Toro sprinklers like the Super 600 have an arc-adjustment button. It is located on the sprinkler's stem or riser. With the sprinkler on, push the adjustment button in and turn the nozzle clockwise to increase the arc. Decrease the arc by turning the nozzle counterclockwise.

    • 5). Evaluate whether your Toro sprinkler nozzle needs to be replaced. If the nozzle is not operating correctly after performing the previous steps, it may need to be replaced. Fixed-spray nozzles like the Toro 570 Series require pulling up on the sprinkler riser and unscrewing the nozzle by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the sprinkler's filter. Insert the new filter and attach the replacement nozzle by screwing it on in a clockwise direction.

Some Toro gear-driven sprinklers, like the Super 600, use a set screw for removing the nozzle. To expose the set screw, push down on the sprinkler's cap. Loosen the set screw with a hex driver and unscrew the nozzle. Screw on the new nozzle and re-tighten the set screw. Release the sprinkler cap slowly.

    • 6). Dig a hole around the sprinkler and the underground riser pipe with a shovel if you need to install an entire new sprinkler. Hold the riser with one hand and unscrew the sprinkler with the other. Grab the body and turning it counterclockwise. Thread the new sprinkler onto the riser by turning it clockwise until tight. Make sure the sprinkler faces the desired watering area. Turn on the sprinkler and check for any leaks. Fill in the hole around the sprinkler. Compact the ground by tamping it down with your foot. Follow the previous steps to make any necessary adjustments to the Toro sprinkler's radius or arc.

    • 7). Dig the ground up around the broken line with a shovel if you must repair cracked or broken supply lines. Cut out the damaged section of pipe using PVC cutters or a hacksaw. Measure the cut pipe with a tape measure. Using PVC cutters, cut a new section of PVC pipe of equal size. Apply PVC primer to the ends of underground pipe and the new pipe. Apply primer to the insides of two couplings. They will join the new pipe and underground pipe together. Allow the primer to dry for a couple of minutes. Apply PVC cement to the ends of the underground pipe and to one inside of each coupling.

Install the couplings by twisting the cemented ends onto the underground pipe. Apply PVC cement to the other inside of each couplings and the new pipe. Install the pipe by twisting one end into one coupling. Slightly flex the pipe to insert the other end into the other coupling. Allow the cement to dry for 15 minutes. Turn on the system to check for leaks. Fill the ground back in and compact it with your foot.
