- 1). Remove the sink flange assembly from the disposal unit, turning the mounting ring clockwise. Raise the mounting ring toward the top of the sink flange and remove the cushion mount and the mount ring. Unscrew the support mount from the sink flange and remove the fiber gasket. The sink flange and the rubber gasket should now be fully separated from the rest of the unit.
- 2). Place the rubber gasket onto the sink flange and insert the flange into the opening of the sink from the top of the basin. Place the fiber gasket onto the flange from below the body of the sink, then screw the support ring onto the flange with the arrows facing up and hand-tighten until the flange doesn't move. Insert the stopper into the top of the flange and fill the sink with water to check the flange seal for leaks. If leaks are present, loosen the support ring and reset the flange, then re-tighten.
- 3). Place the mounting ring over the flange and hold the part steady while inserting the cushion mount onto the flange just below the mounting ring. Press your finger along the entire circle of the cushion mount, applying pressure to seat the ring. Then pull the mount ring down over the cushion mount.
- 4). Align the top of the disposal unit with the sink flange. Place the metal connection fitting into the flange and turn the mount ring slightly to the right to provide temporary support. Place the outlet pipe of the disposal unit into the existing plumbing pipe, turning the unit as necessary for proper alignment.
- 5). Turn the mount ring fully to the right to securely lock the disposal unit into place. Run water into the sink with the stopper open to check for leaks. If leaks are present, loosen the mount ring and realign the unit, then re-tighten. Plug the unit into a power outlet for use.
