How do I Jumbo Frames in Cisco 2960?
- 1). Connect the Cisco serial console cable into the 9-pin serial port on the back of the computer and the other end into the serial console port on the Cisco 2960.
- 2). Click the "Start" button on the Windows XP computer and select the "Run" box. Type "hypertrm" and press the "Enter" key.
- 3). Type a name for the serial connection in the field provided, then press the "Enter" key. In the window that appears, click the "Connect using:" drop-down menu and click "com port to which the serial console cable is connected" and press the "Enter" key.
- 4). Select the "Bits per second" drop-down menu in the "Port Settings" window and click "9600." Select "None" in the "Flow control:" drop-down menu and press the "Enter" key. Press "Enter" repeatedly until the Cisco command line prompt appears.
- 5). Type "enable" and press the "Enter" key, then type the enable password if requested. Press the "Enter" key.
- 6). Type "config t" and press the "Enter" key to access global configuration mode.
- 7). For switches that support 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports type "system mtu 1998" and press the "Enter" key. For switches that support 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports type "system mtu 9000" and press the "Enter" key.
- 8). Type "exit" and press the "Enter" key. Type "reload" to restart the switch so the new jumbo frame settings are loaded.
