    Licensing

    • Before fishermen can fish at the ponds, rivers, reservoirs or dams surrounding Westford, Massachusetts, they must first get a fishing license. These can be purchased at the Westford town clerk. A $5 Wildlands Conservation Stamp fee is added for the first license purchased in a calendar year for Massachusetts residents and for all non-resident license purchases.

A three-day resident fishing pass is $12.50. Non-residents pay $37.50 for a Massachusetts fishing license or $23.50 for a three-day fishing pass. A fishing license for a non-resident minor is $11.50.

    Ponds

    • There are four ponds surrounding Westford that offer a variety of fish. Two are within a two-mile radius. At Burges Pond, 1.7 miles from the city center, anglers can find rock bass, northern pike and rainbow trout. Anglers can go spinning, baitcasting or fly fishing there.

      Grass Pond is 1.7 miles from Westford. Anglers can catch striped bass, crappie and pumpkinseed. There are also Keyes Pond, 2.7 miles outside Westford, and Long Sought-for Pond, 3 miles from Westford.

    Streams

    • There are eight streams near Westford, with two less than 1.5 miles away. Coldspring Brook is the closest to the city center at 1.2 miles. Anglers will find redear sunfish, yellow perch and northern pike.

      Keyes Brook is 1.3 miles outside Westford and holds a variety of fish, including smallmouth buffalo, rainbow trout and steelhead trout. Anglers can go spinning, fly fishing or baitcasting.

    Reservoirs

    • There are two reservoirs in the Westford area that allow fishing. Flushing Pond is a reservoir 3.1 miles away. It is home to a variety of fish such as Atlantic salmon, sunfish and pumpkinseed. Closer to Westford is Stony Brook Reservoir, 1.2 miles away. Anglers can find northern pike, sucker and sockeye salmon.

    Dams

    • There are three dams near Westford that allow fishing. Flushing Pond Dam is 3.1 miles away and contains northern pike, largemouth bass and crappie, along with other species.

      Stony Brook Dam, 1.9 miles from Westford, includes white catfish, rainbow trout and crappie. Spinning, baitcasting and fly fishing can be done at this dam.

      Westford Depot Dam is 1.2 miles away. It has a variety of fish, including brook trout, rock bass and striped bass. Anglers can go baitcasting or fly fishing.
