    • 1). Raise the line bail to release the old fishing line.

    • 2). Peel off all of the old line down to the spool, cut away and discard.

    • 3). Apply a few drops of reel oil to the spool and the bearing mechanism underneath the drag adjustment knob on top of the reel. This is a good maintenance practice when replacing the line, and it will help your Okuma Ignite deliver reliable performance for years. Wipe off excess oil.

    • 4). Mount the Okuma Ignite on a fishing rod.

    • 5). Thread the end of the new line through the end tip and line guides of the fishing rod and tie the line to the Okuma reel spool. Make sure the new line unwinds in the same direction as the reel spins when retrieving the fishing line. This prevents the line from twisting, snarling and possibly breaking.

    • 6). Flip the bail over the spool to secure the new line for retrieval.

    • 7). Add the new line to your Okuma Ignite reel by cranking the retrieve handle at a moderate speed so as not to cause twists or tangles.

    • 8). Don't overload the reel with line, or it can spill off in tangled loops. Remember, the lighter the test rating of the fishing line, the more line you can store on the reel.

    • 9). Tie a plastic practice casting weight to the end of the line, or tie a snapswivel and clip to the rod tip. Tighten the reel crank slightly to prevent the line from unspooling when you're not using your Okuma Ignite.
