How to Attach Spinning Lures
- 1). Hold the bait so the hook points downward and the spot where the two arms come together points upward.
- 2). Locate the spot to attach the spinner bait to the line. Some baits have a loop where the two arms come together. On other spinner baits, there is an upside-down "U" shape where the arms come together.
- 3). Tie a Palomar knot (see Resources) to attach the bait to the line. If the bait has a loop, tie the knot through the loop. If it has an upside down "U," tie at the top of the "U."
- 4). Cut excess line beyond the knot, leaving about 1/8-inch to prevent the knot from slipping.
