    • 1). Navigate to the Vista 123 website.

    • 2). Click the blue link in the center of the screen to download the system files for your version of Windows 7. The link next to "x86" is for 32-bit versions of the operating system and the link next to "x64" is for 64-bit versions of the operating system. Select "System" from the Control Panel if you are unsure of what version is installed on your computer.

    • 3). Right click on the downloaded file and select the "Extract All" option, then choose a location on your computer to store the files.

    • 4). Click the Windows button in the lower left corner of your screen, then click "Computer."

    • 5). Double-click the icon for your operating system's hard drive (typically the "C" drive), then double-click the "Windows" folder.

    • 6). Double click the "System32" folder.

    • 7). Locate the "themeui.dll" and "uxtheme.dll" files, then right-click on each one and choose the "Rename" option to change the files to "themeui.dll.old" and "uxtheme.dll.old" respectively. Be sure not to close this window.

    • 8). Navigate to the location of the files you downloaded and extracted earlier.

    • 9). Drag the "themeui.dll" and "uxtheme.dll" files into the "System32" folder. You will now be able to install third-party themes for Windows 7.
