Founded in 2000 by three women who loved do-it-yourself projects, Tomboy Tools focuses on giving women the tools as well as the education they need to fix up their homes. From tool kits and hand tools, to safety-wear and power tools, Tomboy Tools offers great products solely produced with women in mind -- even if they are pink. - Green Heron is developing a shovel with a smaller shaft that can be used with a woman's body strength.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
This company, founded by two women out of New Tripoli, PA, offers tools that are sized appropriately for women by height and arm length. Discovering that nearly all tools were made for men in mind, they wanted to change that trend and offer something specific to women. They also have tools that are efficient and more ergonomic for female customers, testing them on women farmers and gardeners to get results. The grips on their tools are smaller to suit smaller, female hands, for instance, and a new shovel they are developing will lend itself to a woman's lower body strength. - Historically made for men, by men, Barbara's Way is making whole sets of tools for women.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Founded by Barbara Kovovit in 2005, after a career with one of the largest female-owned renovation and construction companies in New York, Barbara's Way tools are designed by women. Different types of gripping gloves and tool kits, not to mention screwdriver sets and toilet plungers, are all available from Barbara, all made with women in mind. - Instead of a tool belt, women might take a liking to the tool tote that Latitude Tools offers.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
With a motto of "designed with women in mind," Latitude Tools is very similar to Barbara's Way, offering similar products that have been "tested by women, for women." They offer a 5-in1 screwdriver with a stainless steel end that functions as a hammer, for example. Latitude has adjustable wrenches, wall scrapers, shears, pliers and more, all with contoured and cushioned grips that fit comfortably in the palm. Instead of a tool belt, Latitude sells a "tool tote" to fit all the tools a woman could need.
