Homemade Cleaning Solution for Carpet Shampooers
- 1). Vacuum your carpet to remove any loose dirt, and pick up any large items and discard them.
- 2). Mix together two gallons of warm water and 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar in a bucket. Stir with a long-handled spoon or similar item to evenly disperse the vinegar throughout the water.
- 3). Pour the homemade solution into your carpet shampooer as you normally would a store-bought solution, filling the reservoir to the fill line.
- 4). Shampoo your carpets as usual. Any vinegar odor you notice will fade as the carpet dries, and the vinegar and water solution leaves no soapy residue or harsh chemicals behind.
