- 1). Turn off the overhead light in the room where you have the unpleasant pet odors. You can leave on a small lamp or light from another room to help you see.
- 2). Shine the ultraviolet flashlight or light around the room. Urine should appear brighter than the surrounding carpet.
- 3). Soak the affected area with white vinegar or spray with a pet stain removal product. White vinegar does remove the pet odor, but stain removal products leave a more pleasant odor afterward.
- 4). Blot out the excess moisture with a clean rag and allow to dry. Repeat the process as needed to remove the odor of urine.
