How to Troubleshoot a Windshield Wiper in a Toyota Highlander
- 1). Pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until the hinge on the wiper arm locks in a vertical position.
- 2). Swing the wiper blade assembly so that it sits perpendicular to the wiper arm.
- 3). Inspect the wiper blade assembly. If you notice any cracks in the wiper blade, or if the rubber or silicone blade is peeling off of the wiper blade assembly, or if there is any other sign of damage to the wiper, replace it.
- 4). Check for any debris caught in the wiper path on the windshield or in the cowl at the base of the wiper arm. Twigs, leaves, and other debris can become lodged in the cowl between the wiper blade and arm and the wiper linkage which will prevent normal wiper operation.
- 5). Clear away any debris in the wiper path with your fingers or a small brush.
- 6). Repeat steps 1 through 5 for the rear wiper.
