Tying a Hair Rig for Carp Fishing

    • 1). Tie the hair loop for the bait with a piece of fishing line that is about 20 inches long. The function of the loop is to drag the bait a little way from the hook. Carp are more likely to go for bait without a hook in it. Take a

    • 2). Fold the end of the fishing line over to form a loop. Loop it back on itself to make a circle beneath the loop. Thread the loop through the top part of the circle twice and then moisten and pull tight. There should be a loop at the end of the line.

    • 3). Pass the end of the line opposite the loop you just made through the loop in the eye of the hook, from back to front. Hold the hook on its side between your left thumb and forefinger. The curved part of the hook with the barb on it should be to the left of your thumb and curling up. Hold the line flush along the hook shank.

    • 4). Start from the eye and wind the free end of the line around the shank of the hook. Make five or six very tight twists and keep twists close together. Feed the loose end of the line back through the eye after you have completed the twists around the hook shank. You have completed what anglers refer to as the knotless knot. Use a grinner knot or another fishing knot, whatever you prefer, to attach the rig to your line.

    • 5). Push the boilie bait onto a baiting needle. Hook the baiting needle through the loop. Push the bait off the needle and onto the loop. Secure with a boilie stop. A boilie stop is a plastic stopper that you thread through the end of the loop to prevent the boilie from coming off while fishing.
