Why is the Ice Machine Not Releasing the Ice Cubes
- The most common reason why an ice machine does not release ice cubes into an ice bin or the ice dispenser is that ice cubes are blocking or jamming the mechanism. Use a plastic utensil to carefully poke the ice cubes out of the system to clear the path. Do not use metal or sharp items to remove the ice cubes.
- If there are no jammed ice cubes, another reason why the ice machine may not be producing any ice cubes is simple -- there is no power. Look at the ice maker and either turn the ice maker power switch to "On" or push the ice maker power arm to the up position. Note that it will take several hours for a full batch of ice to be produced.
- A less common cause for a lack of ice is that there is not a water supply coming through to the system. Check the water line in the rear of the refrigerator and make sure the line is not trapped or kinked. Turn the water valve counter-clockwise to verify that the water supply is turned on, and check the water dispenser. If there is still no water or ice coming through, contact a service professional for assistance.
- If the refrigerator has power and water supply, and the ice maker is turned on but there is still no ice coming out, consider the fact that someone may have locked the control panel, thereby preventing any ice dispensing. Press and hold the "Control Lock" button or lock icon and hold for at least three seconds to release.
