How to Make Fuel From Water

    • 1). Pour a couple of ounces of vinegar into a bucket of water. Neutral water doesn't conduct electricity as well as acidic or basic water.

    • 2). Attach an electrode to each end of a stack of batteries. A couple of D-size will suffice.

    • 3). Submerge the electrodes in the water, on opposite sides of the bucket. Bubbles will come off of the electrodes. Oxygen forms at the electrode connected to the positive end of the batteries. Hydrogen forms at the other.

    • 4). Submerge two test tubes so they are filled with water. Turn them upside down, still submerged, and place them over the bubbling. The bubbles will collect in the two test tubes, displacing the water inside with pure hydrogen gas in one tube, and pure oxygen in the other. The hydrogen gas is a powerful fuel that burns readily in the presence of oxygen and an ignition source.
