    Sea Glass Planter

    • For a quick and easy project, consider updating a metal planter using sea glass and model magic. Crayola's website recommends this craft project for kids with adult supervision. For this project, cover the metal planter with model magic and press the pieces of sea glass into the model magic. Allow the project to dry completely, before planting a plant inside. Model magic typically dries to the touch overnight, and dries completely in three days.

    Sea Glass Tiled Tray

    • Incorporate sea glass into a mosaic tiled top for a breakfast tray, as recommended at MarthaStewart.com. This project involves using a sheet of 1-inch glass tiles, sea glass shards, mortar, welbond adhesive, white grout, grout sealer, and a wooden tray. Gather the necessary tools, as well, which include craft knife, spackling knife, a sponge, and masking tape. Cut the sheet of tiles to fit into the tray top. Place the tiles into the tray and remove individual tiles to make room for the sea glass shards, then remove the tile sheet from the tray. Apply a thin layer of mortar to the tray and press the tile sheet onto the mortar, paper-side up and allow this to dry for two hours. Next, moisten the paper backing with a damp sponge and peel off the paper. Use a craft knife to apply mortar to the shards of sea glass, then press the shards into the empty spaces where the tiles were removed. After allowing the tray to dry over night, apply grout to the tray. Finally, wipe away the excess grout with a damp sponge and allow the it to dry. When the grout is dry, apply a grout sealer and enjoy the new sea glass and tile tray.

    Sea Glass Sand Orbs

    • Sea glass and sand orbs, like the one suggested at craft.dow.com, make wonderful holiday decorations and gifts. This easy project is also a good family project for kids and parents to complete together. Gather together the following materials: 4- or 5-inch Styrofoam balls, sea glass, small seashells, acrylic spackling compound, tan acrylic paint, natural raffia, fine sand, glue gun and glue sticks. Begin by gluing sea shells and sea glass to the Styrofoam balls, keeping the pieces close together. Tint the acrylic spackling compound using a small amount of the tan paint, this will help it blend with the sand and give the orbs a more organic look. Stir sand into the spackling and apply the sand and spackling mixture to the orbs by pressing it into the crevices between sea glass and sea shells. Wipe away any extra spackling with a damp sponge. Allow spackling to dry completely and buff away any excess. Tie raffia around the orb to create a beach-themed, holiday ornament.
