    • 1). Locate the lift lever on the rear fender and lower it to the bottom notch on the fender. This lowers the deck to increase clearance between the deck and lawn tractor.

    • 2). Remove the screws securing the belt guard onto the mower deck, using the Phillip's screwdriver. Lift the belt guard off the deck and set it aside.

    • 3). Position yourself in front of the Cub Cadet and locate the drive pulley under the motor in front. Remove the guard that rests over the pulley by removing the hex head bolts that hold it in place. Set the guard aside.

    • 4). Place a 3/8-inch drive ratchet into the square hole located on the idler pulley bracket that mounts to the top of the mower deck. Rotate the pulley away from the belt.

    • 5). Pull the old belt off the pulleys on the mower deck and place the new belt onto the pulleys.

    • 6). Stretch the belt to the front of the Cub Cadet and place the belt onto the drive pulley. Remove the ratchet from the idler pulley bracket to increase tension on the belt.

    • 7). Attach the belt guards to the drive pulley and mower deck.
