How to Copy Audio Tapes to CDs
- 1). Connect the audio cables to the OUT or Playback jacks on the back of the tape deck, using the white plug for left audio and the red plug for right.
- 2). Insert the plugs on the other end into the Line IN jacks on the computer soundcard, typically located on the back of the central processing unit.
- 3). Double-click the name of the recording software on the computer to open the program.
- 4). Load the tape deck with an audio tape and press the "Play" button, then click the "Record" button on the software.
- 5). Click the "Stop" button on the software when finished recording, then click the "File" tab, select "Save" and type a name for the audio recording. Click "Save" to store the file on the computer.
- 6). Place a recordable CD in the computer's media tray, then open the software that manages the CD burner. This might be Windows Media Player on a computer running Windows, or iTunes on a Mac.
- 7). Click the "Burn" tab at the top of the screen, then click "Library" or "My Music" to display all the audio recordings on the computer.
- 8). Click and hold the left mouse button on the desired audio file, then drag it to the Burn list and release the mouse button to drop the file in the list. Repeat this step with as many audio files as desired, making a note of the recording time remaining on the CD, which is displayed at the bottom of the list.
- 9). Click "Start Burn" to copy the audio tape recording onto the CD.
