How to Tether the Motorola Droid to a Computer for Free
- 1). Disconnect the Droid from your computer.
- 2). Search the Android Market on your Droid for the "PdaNet" application and install it.
- 3). Download "PdaNet for Android" on your PC from Junefabrics.com and install it.
- 4). When prompted, select the option to enable "USB Debugging Mode" for your Droid during the PC installation. Despite this step being related to the Droid itself, leave the Droid alone for now.
- 5). Allow the installer wizard a few moments to finish. Make sure that the system tray displays a "PdaNet" icon before continuing. A "MotoConnect" icon may also appear in the tray, which is part of the normal installation.
- 6). Connect the Droid to your computer using the USB cable supplied with the phone when you purchased it.
- 7). Open the PdaNet app on the Droid and tap "Enable USB Tether." Wait for the message confirming that the phone has connected successfully.
- 8). Right-click on the "PdaNet" icon in the system tray and click "Connect." In a few moments, a status message will appear confirming a successful connection and a new "PdaNet Modem" icon should appear in the system tray. You now can connect to the Internet through your Droid.
