How to Protect a Windmill Palm
- 1). Pull the windmill palm tree fronds up over the crown of the tree to give it extra insulation. Tie the fronds up with your gardening twine, securing them around the crown.
- 2). Unfold a sheet, and place it into the dryer for five minutes to make it as pliable as possible. Drop the cloth sheet over the windmill palm's crown, making sure that the cloth goes all the way down to the base of the tree.
- 3). Secure the cloth down over the tree by wrapping gardening twine around the base of the cloth that is around the base of the tree. You can also wrap twine around the crown of the tree to make sure there is no air between the cloth and tree fronds.
- 4). Remove the cloth when the last frost has occurred, folding down the tree fronds back to where they were.
