- 1). Turn on your TV and press the "Menu" button on your remote. Select the "Parental, Favs and Setup" option displayed on your TV, then press the yellow circular "Select" button. A new screen displays on your TV; select the "System Setup" option. Choose the "Remote" option from the next screen and select "Program Remote."
- 2). Select your TV manufacturer listed on the screen, and write down the five-digit control code associated with it.
- 3). Move the mode switch (at the top of the remote) to the right, until it is under "TV."
- 4). Press and hold the "Mute" and "Select" buttons until the green light at the top of your remote flashes twice.
- 5). Enter the five-digit control code from Step 2 using the remote control keypad. The remote's green light flashes twice if you entered the code correctly.
- 6). Aim the remote at the TV and press the "PWR" button. When the TV powers off, slide the mode switch to the left, ending beneath the "DIRECTV" icon.
