How to Replace Spark Plugs on a 2000 Saturn LS
- 1). Open the hood of the car and grab the spark plug boot on top of the engine. Wiggle the boot back and forth and pull up on it to remove it from the engine.
- 2). Attach the spark plug socket to the socket extension and then lower the extension down into the spark plug well.
- 3). Unbolt the spark plug with a socket wrench and remove the old spark plug.
- 4). Remove the old spark plug from the spark plug socket and insert the new spark plug into the socket with the electrodes facing outward.
- 5). Lower the new spark plug into the engine's spark plug well. Then carefully thread and tighten the spark plug until it is tight. When it feels tight and becomes difficult to tighten further, turn the wrench an additional 1/4 turn to crush the washer on the spark plug so that it will seat and seal properly. The rest of the installation is the reverse of removal.
